Road Dedicated for Rep. Jerry A. Stern, Lawmakers Say

September 18, 2025

MORRISONS COVE – The family of the late Jerry A. Stern partnered with state officials today to dedicate a road named for the former member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from the 80th District.

Stern’s family joined Pennsylvania Department of Transportation personnel, Rep. Scott Barger (R-Blair/Huntingdon) and Sen. Judy Ward (R-Blair/Fulton/Huntingdon/Juniata/Mifflin) in Morrisons Cove Memorial Park.

Barger and Ward worked on legislation that named Cove Mountain Road (Pa. Route 164) in Taylor and North Woodbury townships for Stern, who served in the House from 1993 to 2014. The initiative was incorporated in Act 17 of 2025.

“It touches my heart every time I see Jerry’s name on the new road signs. He worked hard and bettered his community in his humble, quiet way,” Barger said.

“Rep. Jerry Stern was a faithful public servant who served for many years representing the 80th District. He was highly respected and beloved by his constituents. This road naming is just so fitting to honor his service and legacy to our area,” Ward said.

Stern died Dec. 11, 2024, in his Martinsburg home.

The Representative Jerry A. Stern Memorial Highway stretches from Cove Mountain Road’s intersection with Frederick Road to its intersection with Agway Road in Blair County.
